This page is for practices using AfterVue AI — on the web, or as the iPad and iPhone app — and for anyone who has a question about how a preview was made. Most answers are below. For anything else, email support@getaftervue.com and a member of the AfterVue team will reply within one business day (Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–6:00 PM ET).
The short version. The app is activated with a practice code from your AfterVue subscription. Every image it shows is an AI-generated illustration of a possible result, labelled as such — not a guarantee, not a diagnosis, and not a recommendation. Photos are used only to create the preview and are never kept, sold or used to train AI.
1. Activating the app
AfterVue AI opens to a practice-code screen. Enter the 6-digit code from your AfterVue confirmation page or email, or scan the QR code on that page. A longer practice code (the one your onboarding email calls a “signed practice code”) works on the same screen — tap Have a longer code instead?.
If your code says it is invalid or expired: check that your subscription is active at getaftervue.com/signup, then use Already subscribed? Recover your code in the app with the checkout session id from your confirmation email (it starts with cs_). Still stuck? Email support with your practice name and we will re-issue the code.
2. The iPad and iPhone app
AfterVue AI for iPad and iPhone is the same consult experience as the web app, built for the treatment room: an attract screen, a consent step, front and side photo capture, and a before/after slider for up to three treatments at once. The app needs an internet connection to create previews. Camera access is requested the first time a photo is taken; you can also choose an existing photo from the device instead.
Staff settings (session log, billing, reset) can be protected with the device’s Face ID, Touch ID or passcode. That lock is local to the device — AfterVue never sees it and cannot reset it. If the device has no passcode set, the settings open without one.
The app shows only the treatments enabled for your practice code. To add or remove treatments, email support — it does not require an app update.
3. A preview looks wrong, or nothing changed
Every preview is generated from the patient’s own photo, so photo quality matters most: even lighting, a neutral expression, hair off the face, and the face filling the guide. The side profile should be a true profile (one ear visible). If a rendered image did not line up with the photo, the app says so and offers Retry rather than showing a misaligned result.
If a treatment consistently renders poorly for a photo, send support the treatment name and a description of what you saw (please do not email patient photos). The AfterVue team reviews every report.
4. Privacy and patient photos
The patient’s photo is sent to AfterVue’s AI rendering partner (currently Google Cloud Vertex AI) only to create the preview. AfterVue does not keep it; it is never sold and never used to train AI. The app stores no patient photos. The optional session log records the treatments and levels chosen — not images and not names. Full details are in the Privacy Policy.
The consent line the provider confirms before a photo is taken — that the patient is 18 or older, that the photo is of the patient, and that the patient has agreed to a simulated preview — is the practice’s record; AfterVue does not store it.
5. Billing, plans and cancellation
Subscriptions are bought and managed on getaftervue.com, not inside the app. Month-to-month plans can be cancelled any time; prepaid terms follow the Refund Policy. The app’s Manage billing button opens the same billing portal in Safari. Billing questions: support@getaftervue.com.
6. What AfterVue AI is not
AfterVue AI is not a medical device and does not diagnose, recommend or book treatments. Previews are illustrations of a possible outcome; individual results vary. Patients should review options, benefits and risks with a qualified provider before deciding on any treatment. AfterVue does not produce beauty scores or ratings of any kind.
